Our Growth Story

Ruby International began its journey in 2014 with the Mahenge mine in Tanzania, focusing on top-quality Spinels. Under the leadership of CEO Salim Almass, our commitment to ethical mining and quality quickly expanded operations to Tunduru, mining Blue/Yellow Sapphires, Alexandrites, and Green Tourmalines.

To better serve global markets, we opened a gemstone office in Arusha, strategically placed for international trade. Expanding further, we invested in a promising mine in Voi, Kenya, for Green Colored Garnets, as part of our strategy to grow across East Africa.
Furthering our footprint, we launched a Tourmaline project in Tanga and established a presence in Bangkok, enhancing our international reach. Our acquisition in Lemshuku, Arusha, further cemented our position as a leading global miner and gemstone supplier. Most recently, we have launched a second project in Tanga focused on mining Ruby — a prized gemstone that adds a bold new dimension to our portfolio.
Our success in the gemstone industry has inspired us to spread our wings even further. We are proud to announce that we have secured a strategic partnership to develop a gold tailings reprocessing project — a venture that reflects both our commitment to sustainable resource utilization and our confidence in Tanzania’s mining potential. This exciting new chapter is set to span five years, commencing February 2026.
From our beginnings in Mahenge to our current international presence — and now into gold recovery — Ruby International continues to innovate, explore new opportunities, and uphold our legacy of excellence in ethical and responsible mining.
